Families who came to Licking County prior to 1820.
Did your ancestor(s) settle in Licking County, Ohio prior to 1830? If so, the Licking County Genealogical Society would like to honor you and your pioneer ancestors.
As many of you may be aware, Pioneers of Licking County (pre-1820) has been established to share information, with no proof required. Now, to honor your ancestors, we would like for you to prove their residence here prior to 31 December 1830. Those individuals who can prove their "First Families of Licking County, Ohio" will be honored as a part of our annual social gathering in April. Honorees will receive a pin and a certificate. (You need not be present to receive this.)
Examples of some of the documentation that might be required to prove your Lineage for FFLC could include such things as: birth certificates, marriage records, Death certificates; early tax and/or census records showing proof of pre-1830Settlement. Old Bible records, newspaper birth or marriage/death notices and photos of actual tombstones also help. Printed county and family histories are NOT positive proof, unless fully documented!
You will need a five-generation ancestor chart linking the applicant to the actual pioneer ancestor. Please remember, early census records DID NOT show relationship until 1880, only names of heads of household are listed until 1850!
We presently have more than 150 certified FFLC members and even more associate members.
Perhaps your Ancestor has already been proven and all that you would need to do is prove your link to a particular ancestor. Suggestion: have the LCGS staff volunteers check the "green" FFLC card at our library in the "pioneer files" for those already proven to possibly save you some duplicate work.
$20.00 fee.
